Gov. John Kitzhaber took the unusual step Tuesday of rescinding above-the-norm raises given by Attorney General John Kroger to Oregon Department of Justice managers.

The raises, ranging from 7 percent to 9 percent and effective Oct. 1, prompted an objection by the union that represents non-managerial attorneys at the Justice Department. Over the summer, they settled for pay increases of less than 4 percent spread over two years.

So much for shared sacrifice, I wonder how many people they had to fire to give him the raise?

Hi Allen! Thanks for coming by my Oregon post.

Actually, Kitz took the 7-9% raises away from the managers since the rank and file lawyers had to settle for 3-4%.

It was the AG who tried to reward his minions. Did not get away with it.

I really like Kitz--a real servant of the People--who is sharing the sacrifice around. He is making some longrange planning also, unlike most who just plan for their own term. He is already a twotime gov and we are lucky to have him back. (It was very close--Dudley was a real Teabag...)
