Recent news exposing the Stand Your Ground Law as a corporate written model ALEC bill (Castle Doctrine Act passed in 22 states including Oregon) has spurred many state citizens to mobilize and demand that corporations and ALEC associated state legislators dump ALEC.
From Texas to Connecticut to Oregon, citizens are acting to take their government back from corporations and their scorched earth agenda of privatization of public goods, even lower corporate taxes, gutted environmental and worker/consumer protection laws, stricter immigration laws designed to provide a profitable “product” to fill private prisons, a freewheeling financial industry, and death to those who cannot afford to pay for private health insurance.
Public outcry is working as eleven corporations have now dumped ALEC including Kraft, McDonalds, Coke, PepsiCo, Wendy’s and others. Under “intimidation”, ALEC has also announced that they are dropping their social issue agenda but presumably will continue with their undue influence on all state governments to take further power from the People to feed greedy corporate appetites.
Here are petitions in which you can make your voice heard.
